Dr. Zohirul Islam is a Board Certified Internal Medicine Physician who graduated from Dhaka Medical College in Bangladesh. He completed his residency in the US in Internal Medicine from Long Island College Hospital in New York.

Dr. Islam’s mentorship has had a lasting impact in the medical community and beyond. He has dedicated his entire career to training the future generation of physicians. He started his path as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical University. Later in his career, Dr. Islam worked at New York Presbyterian—Brooklyn Methodist Hospital as an Associate Program Director of Internal Medicine, Residency Program. He also worked as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell.

Dr. Islam’s number one focus is his patients. He is a firm believer in preventative care, channeling his expertise through his Primary Care practice. He takes the time with his patients to educate them about building a healthy lifestyle and well-being. Ultimately, Dr. Islam believes serving God’s creation is the best way to get closer to the God. He intends to dedicate his life serving his community through Al-Afiyah Medical Care.
